An Open Letter to Rihanna: What It’s Like Taking Your Boyfriend To Court

Just a quick note for those of you that are interested. My blog on the Huffington Post “An Open Letter to Rihanna: What it’s like taking your boyfriend to court” is generating a lot of good discussion (intermixed between a handful of asinine and jerky comments). Late yesterday, Jezebel picked it up and the wonderful Megan Carpentier added her story to mine, writing a very powerful post about what it’s like to be a female victim in our justice system. The comments there are a gold mine. It’s not fitness related but it’s definitely a worthwhile read. Thanks again for all your love & support! Have a great weekend!

  1. I just read your HuffPo piece – it’s fantastic. Innovative, open, raw, smart…I’m so glad it’s getting picked up by jezebel and other sites. It needs to be read. Screw fitness for now – this is far, far more important.

Just read your article Charlotte – very powerful. I hope it makes its way to Rihanna.

Sometimes, I think your non fitness posts are the best. They’re just not something I usually see. An eye opening post. I hope she reads it too.

  5. I saw your post yesterday on FB and found your letter eye-opening. I was totally fascinated by the comments and discussion over there! I’ll totally go check out Megan’s story and the comments over at Jezebel.

(sorry, previous “Aaron” comment was me 😉

  6. Wow, that was a great piece, Charlotte. I’m so sorry you went through that, but I’m impressed that you finished it. (The court process, I mean.)

    Fantastic writing.

  7. I read that post. Very cool that you wrote it. It’s awesome to inspire discussion. 🙂

  8. Exceptionally well-written, Charlotte.
I’m so sorry that you had to go through that experience, but it’s very generous of you to open yourself up and share it with others.

  9. Amazing article!!!!!

  10. Thanks for directing us to that post! Very powerful; glad it’s getting lots of exposure.

And “fitness” in my mind means a lot of things–trying to heal emotionally from trauma is certainly a form of “fitness.” I think it’s refreshing to hear an honest take on the complexities of that process.

  11. Beautiful work Charlotte…I read both your post and Jezebel’s. I have to add, not all advocates are working for the prosecution, or paid by the county or state (as I like to say). Of course they are the starving ones left begging for money. http://iatoledo.org/
