As I’m currently in the pre-church Sunday morning insanity (according to my boys ties are just nooses with nice fabric) this will be quick:
For all my local friends: As you may have heard, our friend and YMCA spin instructor (and mom of 3 and super-talented cyclocross racer and all around awesome person) Heather George was recently diagnosed with cancer. There is a fundraiser for her treatments and to show support for her and her family Sunday, Dec. 4, 2001 from 1-4 p.m. at the Burnsville YMCA. More details here.
Just wanted to make sure that everyone knows about this as Heather is a good (a great!) friend of mine and I love her to pieces and I know she’s going to get through this with the skill and determination and positive thinking with which she does everything!
And the winner (as chosen by random number generator) of the YMX by Yellowman running outfit winner is…. Kat a.k.a. Fading Hippie! I sent you an e-mail girl with the details. Please contact me within 72 hours or I will need to pick a new winner. Thanks to all who entered! May all your tattoo dreams come true;)
Sending prayers and the best wishes to Heather!!!!!
Ugh, there is just too much cancer in the world. Good luck with the fundraising.
I don’t want to turn this into a political discussion, but posts like this make me so glad I live in a country with Universal Health Care. It may be not be perfect, but when people in my country need cancer treatment, they get it. There is no need to worry about how to pay for it. We don’t have to stress about health insurance. I couldn’t imagine the extra stress. When my friends are impacted by cancer, we cook for them, clean for them, drive them and help provide childcare. We know that their medical care is covered.
Charlotte, I am so sorry!!!!
Patricia, thank you. Even people with insurance can end up bankrupt due to this & fighting insurance companies. My hubby owns a very small business & does not make a lot & even less with the bad economy now for the past few years. I don’t really think some people understand how impossible it is to afford healthcare. Just paying bills is tough right now.
